AIOZ and Theta overlap in AI and media infrastructure, but comparing their tokens alone misses the services behind them: AIOZ documents storage, pinning, AI and streaming products, while Theta EdgeCloud documents AI computing and video services.14 The useful question is which documented workflow fits a project—not which token deserves an investment crown.
What can developers evaluate?
AIOZ’s documentation describes AIOZ Storage as S3-compatible object storage and AIOZ Pin as IPFS storage and pinning.1 Its September 2026 report, published October 1, adds company-reported Vector Database and Agent Memory capabilities to Storage.9 These are product claims, not independently measured reliability results.
For AIOZ AI, the June 2026 report describes V2 access to models running across AIOZ DePIN through APIs and SDKs, plus no-code AI Playgrounds.7 That is more specific evidence than a broad promise of decentralized AI. It still does not establish performance for a particular model or workload.
AIOZ Stream requires careful release-language reading. Its September 2025 launch announcement identifies video on demand as the initial release and lists live streaming and monetization among V2 roadmap features, despite broader language elsewhere in the same announcement.8 This comparison treats VOD as the documented launch scope; it does not assume those roadmap features subsequently shipped.
Theta’s EdgeCloud documentation lists on-demand inference, dedicated model serving, containerized workloads, Jupyter prototyping, GPU training and distributed training, alongside video-on-demand and livestreaming APIs.4 Its community-client guide also explains how GPU providers offer capacity and customers select nodes for their workloads.6 Theta therefore should not be described as merely a video-delivery token.
| Practical question | AIOZ | Theta |
|---|---|---|
| Where does the documented product range start? | S3-compatible storage, IPFS pinning, AI and streaming.1 | EdgeCloud AI workloads and video APIs.4 |
| What is a concrete AI integration route? | V2 APIs/SDKs and Playgrounds, according to its June report.7 | Inference APIs, dedicated serving and container deployments.4 |
| How are core token roles organized? | AIOZ supports staking, rewards and transactions.2 | THETA handles governance/staking; TFUEL handles operations.5 |
AIOZ: utility and issuance are separate questions
AIOZ’s tokenomics documentation assigns the token roles in staking security, DePIN rewards and transactions.2 Gas documentation denominates mainnet transaction fees in AIOZ’s smallest units, while governance documentation ties voting weight to bonded AIOZ.1011 Product-level examples include Storage payments and Stream V1 prepaid balances for storage, bandwidth and transcoding.18
The published Tokenomics 2.0 schedule specifies 6% annual inflation from December 25, 2025, followed by 5% from December 25, 2026; October 13, 2026 falls within the former scheduled period.2 The document allocates issuance equally between validators/delegators and the treasury and describes token burns associated with transactions, rewards and revenues.2 These are documented design terms, not a fresh audit of deployed minting or realized burns. Do not read declining scheduled inflation as proof of a shrinking supply.
Theta: do not collapse THETA and TFUEL
Theta documents THETA as its governance and Validator/Guardian staking token, with a fixed supply of one billion; staking and node operation earn newly generated TFUEL rather than newly issued THETA.5 TFUEL is the operational token for on-chain payments to edge nodes and smart-contract activity, and the protocol issues additional TFUEL.5 The documentation also describes TFUEL staking for Elite Edge Nodes.5
The distinction matters at the service layer. Theta’s community-client guide says GPU-node and inference-job rewards are calculated in dollars and converted to TFUEL for distribution.6 That does not make THETA a compute-payment token, nor does it establish that every customer invoice must be paid directly in TFUEL.
What the evidence cannot decide
The cited material establishes what the operators document or announce. This review did not execute paid workloads, audit network activity or obtain independent, comparable measurements of utilization, uptime, latency or customer retention. A published API guide is stronger availability evidence than an undated ambition, but neither alone proves sustained customer demand.
For a practical evaluation, test the same representative workload and record model compatibility, deployment steps, data handling, support, failure recovery and the complete bill. For video, separately check ingest, transcoding and playback; for storage, test retrieval and deletion. These are evaluation criteria, not claims that either provider wins them.
Keep service suitability, infrastructure-provider rewards and token economics separate. This evidence supports a shortlist for testing—not a numerical risk ranking or an investment winner.
